This family garden in Leytonstone, East London is located opposite an area of natural SSI woodland. The large Edwardian house was being completely refurbished and the clients wanted to incorporate the garden into their plans at an early stage to ensure it was utilised to its full potential.
The design uses strong forms and a simplistic style to incorporate a range of uses. A Yorkstone terrace wraps around the modern extension to create a generous dining and entertaining space. A large trampoline was to be retained but kept out of view from the house so a hidden childrens play area was included behind a feature wall which acts as a focal point from the terrace.
At the centre of the garden a good sized lawn allows space for play while the inclusion of benches around a reversed outbuilding fireplace creates the ideal spot for evening drinks.
